Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Wilhelm Bergstedt started the match with the kick off. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Elias Östensson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Mellanström getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Kent Sjögren hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Mellanström's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Östensson came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 9thth minute of the game Wilhelm Bergstedt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Edvin Aronsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kent Sjögren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Wilhelm Bergstedt sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. In the 23rd minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 27 minutes into the game, Wilhelm Bergstedt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Axel Tasis in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elias Östensson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Mellanström getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Stig Hedström hit a great ball. Elias Östensson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 35th minute of play. In the 37th minute Lautaro Puig shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elias Östensson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Costa Rica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Wilhelm Bergstedt 48 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Edvin Aronsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wilhelm Bergstedt in the 56th minute of the match. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Östensson having to interfere. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Axel Tasis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elias Östensson made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Lautaro Puig sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Kent Sjögren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Per-Olof Isaksson during the 74th minute. Eliseo Noboa's late challenge caught a Mellanström's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eliseo Noboa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mellanström booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Wilhelm Bergstedt came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 98th minute, Edvin Aronsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mellanström fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mellanström had played much better football throughout.
