Ragnar Lodbrok fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michele Rieger having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play forced Axenstein's goalkeeper Michele Rieger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Axenstein's Michele Rieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Axenstein's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Michele Rieger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Axenstein's Michele Rieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Axenstein's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ragnar Lodbrok kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. In the 40th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Juan Sebastián Puig was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 42nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michele Rieger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luis Andino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michele Rieger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute Claudiu Bumba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Axenstein's Michele Rieger proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Axenstein from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Michele Rieger in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Claudiu Bumba blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudiu Bumba in the 75th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Michele Rieger managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 79th minute, Luis Andino fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Michele Rieger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ragnar Lodbrok in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Axenstein was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bodo Oster didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Michele Rieger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 90th minute. After 91 minutes Axenstein's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Axenstein's Michele Rieger managed to reach the ball for a save. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play.
