Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Olivier Duthu notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Suad Ratkić in the 41st minute of the match. Gangwon FC's Bart Verbruggen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Axel Tasis in the 44th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olivier Duthu, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 83rd match minute, Gangwon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Well-Well Good to maneuver through the defense. If Olivier Duthu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gangwon FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
