But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simon Brun couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Thiago Volpi made a huge save. With his leg Thiago Volpi managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 16th minute Simon Brun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th match minute, Tabossi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Casomiro to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Brun in the 52nd minute of play. Primitivo Andino hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Simon Brun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. If Simon Brun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thiago Volpi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simon Brun in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Tabossi made a substitution. Ramiro Isusko replaced Simon Brun. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Thiago Volpi in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when Ecuador's Felix Montenegro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
