In the 16th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 吴卫天 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 吴卫天. 吴卫天 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. 41 minutes into the match, Atletico Benevento's Fedele Evangelista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. Ernesto Sciascia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Jack Daniels's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jack Daniels helped the player get up and apologised. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fedele Evangelista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 蔡西誉 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. After some careless play in the Atletico Benevento defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 吴卫天. The Atletico Benevento fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 吴卫天 should have stopped the shot. Fedele Evangelista hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Atletico Benevento made a substitution. Ferruccio Paganelli replaced 蔡西誉. After 61 played minutes Atletico Benevento got a freekick which was hit by Fedele Evangelista. 62 minutes into the match, Atletico Benevento's goalkeeper 吴卫天 had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luis Andino. 65 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of 吴卫天, 1-3. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermanno Santarelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. In the 72nd minute, Jack Daniels ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Jack Daniels sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Atletico Benevento's Ferruccio Paganelli in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After having played for 87 minutes, Ermanno Santarelli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atletico Benevento's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ermanno Santarelli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador played a much better game than Atletico Benevento and deserved their victory. The Atletico Benevento players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
