Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Silverio Tuste started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Serafino Jurdan. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Adan Chinto got a free kick in the 25th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silverio Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cao Liang during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Newells Old Boys fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! Serafino Jurdan had in the 34thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. In the 37th minute, Silverio Tuste ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. After 41 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Serafino Jurdan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Silverio Tuste fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-4 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silverio Tuste in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind.
