A collision led to SE Palestra Itália getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Edson Fernandes hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clayton Sergi. The supporters of Chile booed when SE Palestra Itália was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredão Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the SE Palestra Itália defense, Mariano Lacasa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tony Chaves. The SE Palestra Itália fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tony Chaves should have stopped the shot. After having played for 27 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 28th minute of play forced SE Palestra Itália's goalkeeper Tony Chaves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 28 minutes into the match, SE Palestra Itália's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Tony Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clayton Sergi in the 32nd minute. 32 minutes into the match, Clayton Sergi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Thiago Pliego, 1-2. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Betão Vargas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When SE Palestra Itália's Clayton Sergi in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. Tony Chaves made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. Chile were awarded a corner in the 58th minute after SE Palestra Itália's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Lacasa took the corner. Clayton Sergi struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SE Palestra Itália. SE Palestra Itália's Cristóvão Madureira was substituted for Acar Buğrahan. Thiago Pliego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betão Vargas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clayton Sergi in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. 73 minutes into the match, SE Palestra Itália's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Tony Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, SE Palestra Itália's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Mariano Lacasa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The referee ignored SE Palestra Itália's protests and gave Bruno Campon a yellow card for diving instead. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clayton Sergi in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Betão Vargas came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SE Palestra Itália's Betão Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chile's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
