Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antti Forsman in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Pehmeät Jänikset's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aulis Takala came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 41st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montes to maneuver through the defense. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
