Rolando Noboa came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Brugge United's Ümit Karan. But to his dismay, Ümit Karan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Arnauld Van Impe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Laurențiu Roşculeţ sent off a good shot on target. Peru's attentive Joaquin Prats managed to snatch the ball when Herbert Pietrowicz made a throw-in in the 20th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 23rd minute of play forced Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Percy da Fonseca hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goalkeeper Vítor Baia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luz Tejedor. Goffrey Sas struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Rolando Noboa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brugge United. Vítor Baia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Tenorio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Vítor Baia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Brugge United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Peru had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
