Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Ecuador's Daniel Zorita started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 4th minute of play forced C. A. RIVER PLATE's goalkeeper Santiago Rodas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 9 minutes into the match, C. A. RIVER PLATE's Benedek Vén sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Ciriaco Alfonso sent off a good shot on target. 18 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santiago Rodas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnoldo Iratxo got free with Julio Vera in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. C. A. RIVER PLATE's Santiago Rodas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play. After 25 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Santiago Rodas was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 28th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Benedek Vén received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C. A. RIVER PLATE's Santiago Rodas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Benedek Vén tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 45th minute, Pablo Cesario hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 48th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Rodas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The C. A. RIVER PLATE players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnoldo Iratxo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arnoldo Iratxo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santiago Rodas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Santiago Rodas in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Santiago Rodas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Santiago Rodas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, C. A. RIVER PLATE's Moises Isauro got a free kick in the 80th minute. 83 minutes into the match, Agustín Saelices had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Santiago Rodas. C. A. RIVER PLATE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agustín Saelices was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Santiago Rodas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when C. A. RIVER PLATE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Isauro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Santiago Rodas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Felix Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
