Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Milagros Fraga. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Georgiy Voroshilov in the 9th minute. In the 27th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Catarinense F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gernando Cordeiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Rolando Noboa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Chilavert. José Chilavert dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 38thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. José Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 39th minute of play. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Efraim Gilabert hit a great ball. In the 41st minute of the match Jorge Ler shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rolando Noboa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 44th minute of the match, Gernando Cordeiro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rolando Noboa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Julian Murillo made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Catarinense F.C. getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Victor Kauldi hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Peru defense, Gernando Cordeiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolando Noboa should have stopped the shot. 63 minutes into the match, Georgiy Voroshilov notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 66th minute, Peru's Julian Murillo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Eliseo Alcocer struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. José Chilavert didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. The supporters of Peru booed when Catarinense F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amarante Sierra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anthony Alvarado kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. José Chilavert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 82nd minute of play forced Catarinense F.C.'s goalkeeper José Chilavert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luz Tejedor was extremely unlucky when he, in the 86th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angel Diagur in the 87th minute of play. A well placed Julian Murillo short distance shot in the 88th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. 93 minutes into the match, Angel Diagur notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
