After a defensive mix-up in Green Horses's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Theodosis Kassapis came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd minute, Vaios Petridis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 37th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apostolos Mavrokordatos in the 38th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the game, Green Horses's Apostolos Mavrokordatos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
