Mesere's Cai Fei Cheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. Serafin Cernadas hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 32nd match minute, Mesere was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Behe Ruisuarez to maneuver through the defense. Cai Fei Cheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 41st minute of play. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 42nd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 52nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Mesere's Cai Fei Cheng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 53rd minute of play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cai Fei Cheng. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cai Fei Cheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 61st minute of play. The corner led Ecuador's Felix Montes to fire away a dangerous shot which Cai Fei Cheng despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Cai Fei Cheng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
