El Millo de Haedo's Fernando Ruisko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind El Millo de Haedo's goalkeeper Fernando Ruisko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fernando Ruisko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 9th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejo Urtun got free with Julio Vera in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hernán Crespo in the 12th minute. Fernando Ruisko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 17th minute of play. Fernando Ruisko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Alejo Urtun sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play forced El Millo de Haedo's goalkeeper Fernando Ruisko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernando Ruisko was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 26 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernando Ruisko narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to El Millo de Haedo getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Aurelio Aureo hit a great ball. Pedro Gonzalez hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hernán Crespo was the one to do the kick off. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Fernando Ruisko skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 57th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Ruisko. El Millo de Haedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Fernando Ruisko made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. In the 66th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Ruisko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Fernando Ruisko. That made the score 0-3 after 68 minutes of play. A collision led to El Millo de Haedo getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Remigio Uhin hit a great ball. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 83rd minute of play forced El Millo de Haedo's goalkeeper Fernando Ruisko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 86 played minutes El Millo de Haedo got a freekick which was hit by Alejo Urtun. Luis Andino scored 0-4 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Ruisko, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 96 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Fernando Ruisko was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
