When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Nildo Matos sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aurelio Rexino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Seagulls booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Nildo Matos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Seagulls fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Seagulls's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aurelio Rexino came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nildo Matos in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Nildo Matos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of Jonathan Ferrant when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 38thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Seagulls's Aurelio Rexino was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Venegas hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 42nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Casper Sturkenboom. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nildo Matos, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michel Cremers got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Aurelio Rexino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 51st minute of play. After 53 played minutes Seagulls got a freekick which was hit by Melvin Plagge. Aurelio Rexino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joshua Secada, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nildo Matos, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Tomas Illescas was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 88th minute. Venezuela's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 94th minute Marco Mook shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Seagulls's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
