The referee felt a red card was in order, 33 minutes into the game, when Matthew Garrido put in a rough tackle. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39th minute, Miroslav Dosoudil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Sylwester Pieprz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alex Cambeiro in the 52nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Rafael Pereira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. Sylwester Pieprz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 71st minute, Tomas Berganza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. But to his dismay, Tomas Berganza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Nebojša Bombis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the game, Pekárová rodinka's Rafael Pereira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcos Cotilla made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Panama's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Pekárová rodinka had won, even though Panama had held more of the ball.
