Tony Manerov who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Joaquin Gayoso when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Reynardo in the 6th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Deportivo Gamberro's Bruno Pascal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 10th minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. When Sebastian Hermon was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 85 minutes had been played.
