Edmundo Espiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th match minute, Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. Guaberto Isaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A collision led to Los Laguneros de AT getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Milton Melgar hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Los Laguneros de AT's zone, Edmundo Espiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guaberto Isaio came out of the goal and Edmundo Espiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Guaberto Isaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Desiderio Frederik made in the 42nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Arnaldo Dalmu immediately put the ball in play. Arnaldo Dalmu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lautaro Navarro having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Edmundo Espiga got free with Guaberto Isaio in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Guaberto Isaio was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. In the 66th minute Sebastian Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guaberto Isaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tuta Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Dalmu notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Honduras's Lautaro Navarro. Lautaro Navarro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Los Laguneros de AT's Guaberto Isaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Villa in the 79th minute of play. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Ivan Navarro hit a great ball. 83 minutes into the match, Gerardo Gasteiz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Honduras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gerardo Gasteiz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerardo Gasteiz in the 87th minute of play. Desiderio Frederik got a throw-in 90 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Gerardo Gasteiz. The supporters of Honduras booed when Los Laguneros de AT was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Desiderio Frederik didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastian Villa struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Guaberto Isaio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras.
