Joaquin Gayoso was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Osvaldo Bernat capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Osvaldo Bernat really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldo Bernat. Virgilio Remicio made in the 20th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Osvaldo Bernat blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin Gayoso having to make a save. 28 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldo Bernat. After 35 minutes, Jorge Sainz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Uruguay and the Stellenbosch players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Sainz to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Stellenbosch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Fernando Quinteros didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Francisco Seco made the kick off in the second half. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Osvaldo Bernat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 55th minute, Osvaldo Bernat ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Osvaldo Bernat kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Stellenbosch made a substitution. Flóki Cabezudo replaced Osvaldo Bernat. Stellenbosch's Gerke Krupp was substituted for Luca Savini. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Arturo Carvallo hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 6-0 when Flóki Cabezudo sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Kevin Carballal got a free kick in the 70th minute. When Laureano Gora came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Stellenbosch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laureano Gora couldn't finish the play. If Flóki Cabezudo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A sloppy throw-in by Mao Zhen in the 79th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Stellenbosch's Flóki Cabezudo. But to his dismay, Flóki Cabezudo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Pedro Pelayo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Pedro Pelayo made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Maximiliano Escribano sent off a good shot on target. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Stellenbosch fans cheered their team off the field, for while Uruguay had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
