Chelsea Football Club's Leszek Wielopolski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play. Raimundo Rexino kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Chelsea Football Club's Blas Guzman got a good chance for a goal in the 50th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafal Jakubiak in the 57th minute of the match. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leszek Wielopolski having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Rafal Jakubiak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Leszek Wielopolski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvestre Porfiro in the 80th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Silvestre Porfiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Firme Verga's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. After 91 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. Uriel Ralondo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play.
