After 4 played minutes, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Don Bray came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ecuador reached it. Don Bray was out of position in the 6 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 9 minutes into the match, Luis Andino dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Don Bray, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Don Bray in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caco Moura in the 16th minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Don Bray made a huge save. Caco Moura's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Don Bray. The Globo Red's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. 26 minutes into the match, The Globo Red's goalkeeper Don Bray had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Caco Moura recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Don Bray made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco Moura in the 33rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Sebastián Puig charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juan Sebastián Puig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, The Globo Red's Rudolf Rus got a free kick in the 37th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caco Moura in the 41st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. After a rather tough play, The Globo Red's Will Budden got a free kick in the 53rd minute. When Juan Sebastián Puig was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 54 minutes had been played. In the 58th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Don Bray showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as The Globo Red's Caco Moura slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 3-1 after 67 minutes of play. The Globo Red's Caco Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 72nd minute of the match, Caco Moura tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Caco Moura in the 74th minute. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Caco Moura sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. 79 minutes into the match, The Globo Red's Caco Moura sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Felix Montes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Don Bray was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 91st minute of the match The Globo Red got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dominik Webb ran over to the corner to take the kick. Dominik Webb made a great header on The Globo Red's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Caco Moura sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. The Globo Red's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
