Hector Covarrubias struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Ivar Pihlwall didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Ivar Pihlwall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Malte Granberg got a throw-in 15 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Paul Hallgren. Alan Campos hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Lobster if defense, Primitivo Escribano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivar Pihlwall. The Lobster if fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivar Pihlwall should have stopped the shot. After 26 played minutes Lobster if got a freekick which was hit by Paul Hallgren. The audience thought a goal was coming when Primitivo Escribano got free with Ivar Pihlwall in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With his leg Ivar Pihlwall managed to avoid a goal in the 33rdth minute, when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 35thth minute of the game Hector Covarrubias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lobster if's Ivar Pihlwall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Jaime Pardo took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Ivar Pihlwall to make any attempt to save it. Ivar Pihlwall was out of position in the 43 minute of play, and Jaime Pardo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jaime Pardo really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. In the 47th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Covarrubias to maneuver through the defense. If Malte Granberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Jaime Pardo made the kick off in the second half. Ivar Pihlwall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 55 minutes, Jaime Pardo made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Lobster if's Ivar Pihlwall tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ivar Pihlwall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 63rd minute of play. After 66 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Alan Campos. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Paraguay from getting a goal against them. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the match, Paraguay's Alan Campos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivar Pihlwall narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivar Pihlwall having to interfere. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lobster if's Ivar Pihlwall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 88th minute of play. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Paraguay had played much better football throughout.
