Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. A collision led to Karlsborg getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Björn Blomkvist hit a great ball. 28 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Classon came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute, Wiktor Karlstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Karlsborg's Mattias Håkansson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Carballo in the 44th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 55thth minute of the game Axel Tasis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Karlsborg's Mattias Håkansson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sven-Oskar Trillkott charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When Lautaro Puig came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Puig couldn't finish the play. Karlsborg's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
