The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severin Hussein in the 5th minute of play. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kjetil Hellevik in the 11th minute. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severin Hussein in the 17th minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Gædd FK's Severin Hussein dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Alf-Inge Hol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severin Hussein in the 35th minute of play. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severin Hussein went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. After having played for 42 minutes, Kjetil Hellevik managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gædd FK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kjetil Hellevik was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severin Hussein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

54 minutes into the match, Gædd FK's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Andreas Berglund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Andreas Berglund didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. 57 minutes into the match, Severin Hussein notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severin Hussein, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kjetil Hellevik in the 66th minute of play. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severin Hussein's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Jonathan Eidsvik kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. In the 81st minute, Severin Hussein got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 83rdth minute of the game Severin Hussein who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severin Hussein in the 86th minute of the match. The supporters of Gædd FK booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Gædd FK's Severin Hussein. But to his dismay, Severin Hussein quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Gædd FK walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
