If Johannes Blom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dênis Maia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dênis Maia got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tadeusz Szotek having to make a save. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Patricio Costa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tadeusz Szotek made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Tadeusz Szotek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute of play forced BAR100LONA's goalkeeper Tadeusz Szotek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Dênis Maia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Dênis Maia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeu de Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 72 minutes into the game, Tostão Pinheiro threw the ball into play from the sideline. Venezuela's Jose Correa quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tadeusz Szotek breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. BAR100LONA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dênis Maia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dênis Maia in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 85 minutes into the match, BAR100LONA's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Tadeusz Szotek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 86th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. After 91 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dênis Maia in the 94th minute of play.
