Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Costa Rica's Axel Tasis started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Herbert Jajecznica might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Herbert Jajecznica ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 5th minute, Herbert Jajecznica ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Jajecznica, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 12 minutes had been played when some careless play by Costa Rica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eugeniusz Kluska was slow to take the kick. During this time Górnik Zabrze's players had a chance to rest. Górnik Zabrze's Eugeniusz Kluska was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benito Sanz in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Jajecznica, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herbert Jajecznica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Jajecznica in the 17th minute of play. In the 19thth minute of the game Herbert Jajecznica who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 27 played minutes Górnik Zabrze got a freekick which was hit by Herbert Rostow. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulryk Tylenda having to interfere. Herbert Jajecznica struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Górnik Zabrze. 32 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Herbert Jajecznica came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, Herbert Jajecznica cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugeniusz Kluska, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After 38 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herbert Jajecznica in the 40th minute of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Jajecznica, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Herbert Jajecznica sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Costa Rica players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Górnik Zabrze were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Herbert Jajecznica was the one to do the kick off. Ulryk Tylenda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 55 minutes into the game, Górnik Zabrze's Herbert Jajecznica nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. When Herbert Jajecznica came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Górnik Zabrze fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Herbert Jajecznica couldn't finish the play. Herbert Jajecznica took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 67th minute of play forced Górnik Zabrze's goalkeeper Ulryk Tylenda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Waclaw Topolski. Górnik Zabrze's Herbert Jajecznica got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Herbert Jajecznica sent off a good shot on target. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Herbert Jajecznica in the 79th minute of the match. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Górnik Zabrze was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herbert Jajecznica didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Herbert Jajecznica managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Górnik Zabrze's supporters crossed their fingers, but Herbert Jajecznica was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Efrain Moruga's late challenge caught a Górnik Zabrze's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Efrain Moruga helped the player get up and apologised. After 86 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. In the 87th minute, Herbert Jajecznica ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. Górnik Zabrze's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
