Olimpiu Oncescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Mugur Aldulea sent off a good shot on target. In the 25th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Barrios to maneuver through the defense. Marcos Cotilla acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 25th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Mugur Aldulea. 27 minutes into the match, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Olimpiu Oncescu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 28 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Stoicii's Olimpiu Oncescu. Olimpiu Oncescu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 31st minute, Abraham Alguacil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Olimpiu Oncescu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Zbora during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 34th minute, Felix Zbora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 36 minutes, Abraham Alguacil managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abraham Alguacil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Popescu came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Stoicii's goalkeeper Olimpiu Oncescu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olimpiu Oncescu was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. In the 60th minute, Abraham Alguacil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olimpiu Oncescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 64th minute of play. Isidoro Sarmiento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Panama booed when Stoicii was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petruț Lovinescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Stoicii's Maxim Capătă got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Olimpiu Oncescu acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 73rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Abraham Alguacil. Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olimpiu Oncescu having to interfere. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Olimpiu Oncescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Stoicii's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Olimpiu Oncescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 91st minute of the match, Tomas Berganza tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Olimpiu Oncescu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 95 minutes into the match, Stoicii's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Olimpiu Oncescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Panama's zone, Mugur Aldulea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal and Mugur Aldulea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
