The audience thought a goal was coming when 梅响庭 got free with Kjell Sjöö in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mazinho Barreto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Sá, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mazinho Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Erik Vihonský in the 28th minute of play. Mazinho Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Douglas Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Kjell Sjöö made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Diego Di Toma sent off a good shot on target. FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA's Mazinho Barreto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Sá in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes in the game, Lúcio Sá dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Mazinho Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Sá in the 47th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Mazinho Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Khaidir Sopandi, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. When Washington Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the FORMIGÃO DE BRAGA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Washington Tasso couldn't finish the play. Curiphila Eagles made a substitution. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Curiphila Eagles would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
