Ferman Torres's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferman Torres helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Real Club Celta de Vigo's Ferman Torres got a free kick in the 12th minute. Real Club Celta de Vigo's Pepe Toxeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, Real Club Celta de Vigo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calisto Camacho to maneuver through the defense. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Toxeiro having to interfere. Pepe Toxeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 27 minutes into the match, Real Club Celta de Vigo's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Pepe Toxeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Real Club Celta de Vigo's attentive Guillermo Marin managed to snatch the ball when Leonardo Leoz made a throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game. After 36 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Tafalla. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pepe Toxeiro having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Real Club Celta de Vigo's Rubén Blanco got a free kick in the 46th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Renato Tapia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Joel Gaona reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Pepe Toxeiro. The goal made the score 0-2. 56 minutes into the match, Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. Renato Tapia took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Pepe Toxeiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luca Zorita went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 66th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Macos Graciani to maneuver through the defense. Pepe Toxeiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Pepe Toxeiro made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Pepe Toxeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 88th minute of the match. Everardo Arias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Everardo Arias, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The Real Club Celta de Vigo fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
