He walked away shaking his head. 14 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Gentil came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 15 played minutes Matos Velhos got a freekick which was hit by Adalberto Peres. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl Nietlisbach in the 19th minute of play. Karl Nietlisbach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tord Böcklund hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Luz Tejedor shot from long distance after 22 played minutes, a shot that Vito de Godoi with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Julian Murillo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vito de Godoi. The goal made the score 1-0. 28 minutes in the game Bo Stam did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Generoso Silvino. Karl Nietlisbach scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 32 minutes into the game, Adalberto Peres threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Peru's Julian Murillo got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Sabino Vilhena ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 37 minutes in the game, Eliseo Mina fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Vito de Godoi having to interfere. Vito de Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Matos Velhos getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Tord Böcklund hit a great ball. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Vito de Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Bo Stam kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Vito de Godoi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Matos Velhos were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sabino Vilhena to make the kick off. Bo Stam made in the 52nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Karl Nietlisbach immediately put the ball in play. 55 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Gentil came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Matos Velhos's goalkeeper Vito de Godoi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Bo Stam, made in the 79th minute of the game. Julian Murillo scored 2-2 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vito de Godoi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henrique Candal in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rolando Noboa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 87th minute, Lee Beckford made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Adalberto Peres in the 89 minute of the game. In the 91st minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vito de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vito de Godoi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rafael Gallo went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. Vito de Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Gallo in the 94th minute of the match. Vito de Godoi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
