Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Jonas Salk. Jonas Salk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute. In the 12th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. Jonas Salk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 15th minute of play forced Penang Island's goalkeeper Jonas Salk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Penang Island's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Ecuador's Luis Andino was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonas Salk in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonas Salk saved Penang Island from getting behind. In the 25th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonas Salk was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 29th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonas Salk saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Bulek Idris recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Bulek Idris showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 35 minutes into the match, Penang Island's Bulek Idris sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Antonio Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Arias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 40th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Bulek Idris managed to get in a good position for a shot. Penang Island's supporters rose to their feet, but Bulek Idris was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Ecuador were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonas Salk having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Penang Island's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonas Salk came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Jonas Salk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Luis Andino took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonas Salk. Jonas Salk dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Bulek Idris kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Penang Island's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Jonas Salk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bulek Idris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Bulek Idris came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Penang Island was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haryanto Simamora didn't get a good kick on the ball. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jonas Salk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Luis Andino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonas Salk. Penang Island's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luis Andino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Jonas Salk. Penang Island's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Penang Island.
