Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when SC Serrinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristóvão Rebelo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristóvão Rebelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th minute Cristóvão Rebelo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermínio Barbosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Geraldo Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of SC Serrinho:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ecuador:s goal. After 52 minutes SC Serrinho's goalkeeper Cameron Diaz managed, with a little bit of luck, save Daniel Zorita's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot. In the 54th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 59 minutes into the match, SC Serrinho's goalkeeper Cameron Diaz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. With a little luck, SC Serrinho's Cameron Diaz got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermínio Barbosa in the 63rd minute of play. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
