A hard shot 33 in the game by Frank Frisck from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. Sarper Kürşat showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of the match. Sarper Kürşat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 42 minutes into the match, ...'s goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Sarper Kürşat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. ...'s Sarper Kürşat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 86th minute Frank Frisck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes in the game Camilo Gisbert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Agustín Saelices. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Frisck in the 97th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
