The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 15th minute, Tudor Bodea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 28 minutes into the game, Dumitru Geoană was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Unicorns ™'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Salvador the free kick. After 28 played minutes Unicorns ™ got a freekick which was hit by Dumitru Geoană. Octavian Chivu got a throw-in 32 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Codrin Boc. A hard shot 35 in the game by Moises Fernandino from a close distance when the talented Isac Drâmba managed to make a qualified save. Unicorns ™'s players were relieved. After 35 played minutes Unicorns ™ got a freekick which was hit by Calistrat Mihalcea. Ricardo Zorita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tudor Bodea in the 41st minute of play. The supporters of Unicorns ™ booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Tamayo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Unicorns ™'s Isac Drâmba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Unicorns ™ from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Tudor Bodea got free with Ricardo Zorita in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Codrin Boc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Zorita having to interfere. The Unicorns ™ supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Unicorns ™ would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
