Spectators: 511 (Terracing: 384, Seating: 117, VIP seats: 10) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Juan Bittencourt started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute, Aírton Xavier made a precise shot to the right of Eliseu Toscano. Capibaribe Stars's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 8th minute of the match Capibaribe Stars got a corner. AVAÍ F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ian Koehler ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Capibaribe Stars's Ian Koehler to fire away a dangerous shot which Horácio Tasso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Aírton Xavier received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eliseu Toscano came out and tried to block the shot, but Aírton Xavier slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 13th minute. Capibaribe Stars were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after AVAÍ F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ian Koehler took the corner. Eliseu Toscano came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by AVAÍ F.C.'s Juan Bittencourt. But to his dismay, Juan Bittencourt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 21 minutes into the match, Joaquim Ceresso notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Capibaribe Stars's Eliseu Toscano. Eliseu Toscano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. AVAÍ F.C.'s Horácio Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Váldson de Sena in the 27th minute of play. Capibaribe Stars's defense didn't have a chance, in the 32nd minute, when Juan Bittencourt scored to the left of an out of position Eliseu Toscano, making the score, 5-0. After a defensive mix-up in AVAÍ F.C.'s zone, Ian Koehler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horácio Tasso came out of the goal and Ian Koehler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Capibaribe Stars's Ian Koehler got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aírton Xavier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Eliseu Toscano made a huge save. After 47 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldo Queirós. The supporters of Capibaribe Stars booed when AVAÍ F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Acácio Peres stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, AVAÍ F.C.'s Horácio Tasso got control of the ball when Oscar dos Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 55 minutes AVAÍ F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ian Koehler who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of AVAÍ F.C.'s goalie and right to Aílton Rocha. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. AVAÍ F.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Eliseu Toscano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Bittencourt in the 57th minute of the match. With his leg Horácio Tasso managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Capibaribe Stars's Oscar dos Santos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 65 played minutes Capibaribe Stars got a freekick which was hit by Gildo Maranhense. A collision led to Capibaribe Stars getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Gildo Maranhense hit a great ball. In the 71st minute Leonel Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horácio Tasso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 73rd minute, Joaquim Ceresso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliseu Toscano was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. After 78 played minutes Capibaribe Stars got a freekick which was hit by Fabinho Vasconcelos. Gláuber Meirelles blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eliseu Toscano having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Capibaribe Stars's zone, Murilo Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliseu Toscano came out of the goal and Murilo Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 83 played minutes AVAÍ F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Nelsinho Catarinense. In the 84th minute of the match Ian Koehler sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Horácio Tasso skillfully saved the ball. Eliseu Toscano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Bittencourt, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Capibaribe Stars's Eliseu Toscano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Bittencourt in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 91 minutes, Oscar dos Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Capibaribe Stars's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd match minute, AVAÍ F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Murilo Martins to maneuver through the defense. Horácio Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Acácio Peres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

AVAÍ F.C. walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
