If Arnoud Van Gestel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Charlie Vercalsteren. Leo Dauwen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After 29 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leo Dauwen was left in no man's land by his defense there! Antonio Arias's late challenge caught a Bacardi FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 40th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the game, Jimmy Wiklund was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bacardi FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roni Coryn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bacardi FC made a substitution. Cornelis Rondas replaced Roy Voet. Bacardi FC's Arnoud Van Gestel got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leo Dauwen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The referee showed Daniel Zorita the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Daniel Zorita hit a great ball. Bacardi FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
