Joel Vidal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. After some careless play in the Compugraf defense, Luis Andino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel Vidal. The Compugraf fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel Vidal should have stopped the shot. A throw-in in the 6th minute of the game was made by Felix Montes with Felix Montenegro as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Joel Vidal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Joel Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 12th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Vidal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 14th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play forced Compugraf's goalkeeper Joel Vidal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joel Vidal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, Compugraf's Pedrão Furtado got a free kick in the 27th minute. 29 minutes into the game, Luis Andino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Joel Vidal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joel Vidal. Joel Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. In the 45th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Joel Vidal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Luis Andino took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joel Vidal. Joel Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. 57 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joel Vidal. Agustín Saelices showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. Primitivo Andino got a throw-in 60 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Cristian Sancho. Joel Vidal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. In the 65th minute, Cristian Sancho fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Joel Vidal, passed just outside the right post. Joel Vidal was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 69th minute. The score was now 0-11. In the 73rd minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joel Vidal. Joel Vidal yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-12. Joel Vidal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agustín Saelices in the 78th minute. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Joel Vidal made a huge save. 79 minutes into the match, Compugraf's goalkeeper Joel Vidal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. In the 80th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Vidal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-13. Joel Vidal came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-14. Joel Vidal was out of position in the 88 minute of play, and Felix Montenegro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Felix Montenegro really showed his touch with that goal: 0-15. Joel Vidal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Cristian Sancho slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joel Vidal. That made the score 0-16 after 96 minutes of play. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Compugraf.
