The crowd rose to their feet as Atletas Campesinos F.C.'s Luís Hernandez slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Hernandez in the 10th minute. After 11 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ciro Ostadar who took care of the corner kick. Dalmacio Transito was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 15 minutes into the match, Atletas Campesinos F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Paulo Rosio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulo Rosio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Atletas Campesinos F.C.'s Luís Hernandez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Atletas Campesinos F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalmacio Transito didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 32nd minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Atletas Campesinos F.C.'s Luís Hernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 62 played minutes Atletas Campesinos F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Mouricio. Paulo Rosio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 65th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luís Hernandez in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Paulo Rosio in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Hernandez's shot from short distance in the 90th minute.
