In the 16th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emanuel Baptista was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Emanuel Baptista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emanuel Baptista having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustín Saelices in the 26th minute of play forced Bucaneiros's goalkeeper Emanuel Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Emanuel Baptista. Bucaneiros's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Baptista having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Emanuel Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bucaneiros's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Emanuel Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Aníbal Travassos made a kick off. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Emanuel Baptista came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 50th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Emanuel Baptista in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 61 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Emanuel Baptista. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-8. Bucaneiros's Emanuel Baptista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Bucaneiros from getting a goal against them. Bucaneiros's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Emanuel Baptista, making the score, 0-9. 70 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Emanuel Baptista threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Daniel Zorita this time. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Baptista having to interfere. Daniel Zorita was extremely unlucky when he, in the 75th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emanuel Baptista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Luizão Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Baptista having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, Bucaneiros's goalkeeper Emanuel Baptista had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emanuel Baptista. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bucaneiros's Emanuel Baptista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Bucaneiros from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Bucaneiros's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuel Baptista came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Bucaneiros fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
