Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Hasan Erentürk sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 21 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Şinasi Oran's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 25th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sakut Timuroz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Hasan Erentürk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Hasan Erentürk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Sakut Timuroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hasan Erentürk's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hasan Erentürk in the 40th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Şinasi Oran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Hasan Erentürk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Sakut Timuroz in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute. After having played for 56 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Hasan Erentürk came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sakut Timuroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 65th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Şinasi Oran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 69 played minutes tekkeli çimeli got a freekick which was hit by Savaş Reşan. Şinasi Oran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hasan Erentürk scored 1-3 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
