With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Tenorio Urrue tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vinicio Bermudo got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th match minute, Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pascual Carballar to maneuver through the defense. The throw-in from Tenorio Urrue in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Colombia's Axel Montenegro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno do Nascimento in the 38th minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kevin Mastache kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vinicio Bermudo in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Guararapes's Vinicio Bermudo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Pedro Manzanares. That made the score 1-0 after 47 minutes of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 54th match minute, Guararapes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudio Graziano to maneuver through the defense. Abram Sarmiento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Romeu Guedes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vinicio Bermudo in the 71st minute of play forced Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Guararapes's Claudio Graziano got a free kick in the 73rd minute. A collision led to Guararapes getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Claudio Graziano hit a great ball.
