Colombia's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Martín Palermo 15 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santino Seco in the 18th minute of play forced Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Francisco Nesor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Francisco Nesor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Montenegro in the 20th minute of the match. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martín Palermo in the 24th minute of play. In the 24th minute Martín Palermo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Manzanares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute, Metal Juniors's Martín Palermo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Francisco Nesor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 30th minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Metal Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Abram Sarmiento came free, but Francisco Nesor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Orlando Tafalla in the 36th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Metal Juniors's Timoteo Gorosti. Francisco Nesor stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Montenegro's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. A collision led to Metal Juniors getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Reinaldo Castro hit a great ball. With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Leopoldo Itzaina tried to sneak it across the goal line. Metal Juniors's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Reinaldo Castro in the 48th minute. Metal Juniors's Reinaldo Castro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pedro Manzanares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.

Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martín Palermo in the 53rd minute of the match. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colombia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Reinaldo Castro was slow to take the kick. During this time Metal Juniors's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Reinaldo Castro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Colombia's Pedro Manzanares did a great save. The corner was taken by Axel Montenegro in the 60th minute. 64 minutes into the match, Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Francisco Nesor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Axel Montenegro. Metal Juniors's Sergio Dennis was substituted for Martín Palermo. Colombia's Abram Secada was substituted for Axel Montenegro. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. In the 69th minute of the match Colombia got a corner. Metal Juniors's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Francisco Nesor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignacio Mastache, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Metal Juniors succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Colombia had controlled the match.
