Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Lufsarna's Manolis Matsaggos started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Ingvar Bruhn came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Lufsarna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ingvar Bruhn couldn't finish the play. Ingvar Bruhn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rune Brodin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute Manolis Matsaggos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Manolis Matsaggos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 21 played minutes Lufsarna got a freekick which was hit by Karl-Ove Askstedt. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Mikhail Agutin. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manolis Matsaggos's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Montenegro during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Lufsarna booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lufsarna's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Brodin came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Rune Brodin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Manolis Matsaggos sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Lufsarna made a substitution. Sven-Arne Kruuse replaced Arvin Linberg. If Gert Dahlqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lufsarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Orvar Tham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. After 96 played minutes, Lufsarna's Orvar Tham shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lufsarna reached it.
