An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute of play. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 26thth minute grab hold of the ball when Nelson Mendoza from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Nelson Mendoza who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. João Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 32 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Mendoza. 34 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelson Mendoza in the 40th minute of the match. After 45 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Mendoza. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nelson Mendoza made a kick off. João Massa was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 60th minute. The score was now 0-3. João Massa made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. 72 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. 75 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Massa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When UFC STEAUA's Nelson Mendoza in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. In the 79th match minute, UFC STEAUA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isaac Guipuzkoa to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 81 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Mendoza in the 90th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Massa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. The UFC STEAUA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
