Zeng Ting Xing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. In the 10th minute Union Y Progreso F.C. were awarded a corner. Fabio Cordarell went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Venezuela's goalie and right to Bozhil Bakalchev. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Venezuela's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 11 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. The audience thought a goal was coming when Santiago Meruendano got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant stood somewhat misplaced when Santiago Meruendano came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 19 minute. An unexpected shot in the 22nd minute by Zeng Ting Xing got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Santiago Meruendano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Zeng Ting Xing tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by León Rapela during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. León Rapela was shown his second yellow card after 30 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Union Y Progreso F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. León Rapela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Olle Melander in the 35th minute. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bozhil Bakalchev came free with the goalkeeper in the 41st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jonathan Ferrant could save by the left post. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Olle Melander sent off a good shot on target.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Santiago Meruendano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bozhil Bakalchev struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Union Y Progreso F.C.. Sanchez Mendecute made in the 55th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Zeng Ting Xing immediately put the ball in play. The corner ended in Venceslas Pumares almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. After a rather tough play, Union Y Progreso F.C.'s Sanchez Mendecute got a free kick in the 67th minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Meruendano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute Santiago Meruendano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There was no doubt that Union Y Progreso F.C. were the better team. Union Y Progreso F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
