The audience thought a goal was coming when Ignacy Kinic got free with Julio Vera in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Cristiano Messi sent off a good shot on target. Jaime Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. 23 minutes into the match, Corinthians's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Jaime Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jaime Almeida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute José Vítor Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignacy Kinic might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ignacy Kinic ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristiano Messi's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. If Cristiano Messi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 42nd minute, Şensoy Sualp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ignacy Kinic got free with Julio Vera in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Vítor Ramos in the 51st minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Almeida having to interfere. Daniel Zorita scored 1-1 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jaime Almeida, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 71st match minute, Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chris Mas to maneuver through the defense. Jaime Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ignacy Kinic in the 94th minute of the match. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Corinthians to leave the ground with a draw.
