After a defensive mix-up in Olympique Deleon's zone, Axel Tasis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Lira came out of the goal and Axel Tasis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sydney Motta's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sydney Motta helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Olympique Deleon getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. After 20 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luís Fábio Travassos hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. When Natanael Vale fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympique Deleon's protests and gave Natanael Vale a yellow card for diving instead. In the 51st match minute, Olympique Deleon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natanael Vale to maneuver through the defense. Alexander Carballo charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexander Carballo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yuri Jacinto in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Olympique Deleon were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
