Felix Montenegro scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cesar Donio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of play forced San Antonio HotSPURS's goalkeeper Cesar Donio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cesar Donio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when San Antonio HotSPURS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Weldon Gibbs didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cesar Donio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Luis Andino made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that San Antonio HotSPURS's Cesar Donio managed to reach the ball for a save.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alonso Snider to strike the kick off in the second half. Artemio Norino took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 95th minute, Micah Alston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
