But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cassius Byrne couldn't finish the play. Edward Mcdonald kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. When USA's Cassius Byrne in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cöpacabana FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cöpacabana FC's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Mazza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Jonathan Luz fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cöpacabana FC's protests and gave Jonathan Luz a yellow card for diving instead. Jonathan Luz hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 15th minute of play forced Cöpacabana FC's goalkeeper Tiaguinho Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tiaguinho Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Monty Rogers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiaguinho Mazza. Cöpacabana FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Monty Rogers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Tiaguinho Mazza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Monty Rogers went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Tiaguinho Mazza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tiaguinho Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cassius Byrne in the 23rd minute of the match. When Vítor Soares came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Cöpacabana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Soares couldn't finish the play. The supporters of USA booed when Cöpacabana FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denílson Saldanha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half USA were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cassius Byrne was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Cöpacabana FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Tiaguinho Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Cöpacabana FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cassius Byrne was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Zach Harrison managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Cöpacabana FC's Tiaguinho Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 56th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Monty Rogers made a precise shot to the right of Tiaguinho Mazza. Cöpacabana FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. 63 minutes into the game, Cassius Byrne recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tiaguinho Mazza. Cassius Byrne showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. Tiaguinho Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. A hard shot 74 in the game by Cassius Byrne from a close distance when the talented Tiaguinho Mazza managed to make a qualified save. Cöpacabana FC's players were relieved. 79 minutes into the match, Monty Rogers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tiaguinho Mazza. Tiaguinho Mazza was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Marco Baker. Khalid Parry sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tiaguinho Mazza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sam Campbell in the 87th minute. Khalid Parry took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tiaguinho Mazza. Tiaguinho Mazza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-9. In the 92nd minute, Sam Campbell ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tiaguinho Mazza was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-10. USA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
