Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Tomas Berganza got the match started through his kick off. Bebeto de Carvalho took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bebeto de Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvinho Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto de Carvalho in the 21st minute of play. Greg Marshall received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcos Cotilla came out and tried to block the shot, but Greg Marshall slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. 28 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Silvinho Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Itapeipu AD defense, Isidoro Sarmiento kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silvinho Monteiro. The Itapeipu AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silvinho Monteiro should have stopped the shot. In the 33rd match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Ros to maneuver through the defense. Silvinho Monteiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isidoro Sarmiento went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Silvinho Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

Belmiro Quadros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcos Cotilla read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After 55 minutes, Dylan Sarmiento mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Panama and the Itapeipu AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dylan Sarmiento hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Belmiro Quadros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Felipe Ros hit a great ball. Marcos Cotilla came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Itapeipu AD's Belmiro Quadros. But to his dismay, Belmiro Quadros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Miralles in the 69th minute of play forced Itapeipu AD's goalkeeper Silvinho Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belmiro Quadros in the 76th minute of play. Bebeto de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Marcos Cotilla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto de Carvalho in the 82nd minute of play. After 82 minutes of play, Itapeipu AD's Bebeto de Carvalho made it 5-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcos Cotilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! Itapeipu AD made a substitution. Valdomiro Marquez replaced Vitinho Leite. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greg Marshall, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. The supporters of Panama booed when Itapeipu AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Vander didn't get a good kick on the ball.
